Playtown's Huge Weeeeee

Hmmm.... rereading that title it sounds slightly questionable but I promise it's not!

On Wednesday we met a group of WMMs at one of the local indoor playgrounds. Playtown is just a few minutes from our house and J's dad got us a special pass for Christmas so both J and I were so excited to check it out.
It was awesome!!!!!!!!!
There were all kinds of things to do!

The best part for me was that it was almost completely "parent-proof" too so I could play with him on things. I always loved those bouncy houses!

Of course, for J the best part was the Humongous Weeee (Slide)!!!! We went down together once and it was fun. When we got to the top again J's friend, Lightening, was too scared to go down alone so I sent J down alone and took Lightening with me. J liked going down by himself so much better than with Mommy, independent little man that he is. So next thing I know he's bravely climbing the ladder ALONE. Yes, I did have a heart attack when I saw it! But he was totally fine!!!! His smile was priceless!!!!

And off he went with Babydoll and Gordon. I lost count of the number of times they went up and down that huge weeee!

He would have done it all day long if I hadn't made him leave for lunch and a nap. Next time we'll plan to go when they first open and bring a lunch so he can stay and play 'til he's falling asleep on his feet! And I promise to bring my camera next time because all the action shots are totally blurry from my phone camera!

Cape Weekend

IMG_1276

The Three P's went down to the Cape this weekend so I could work at a Dot Your i's Event. J's dad took Friday off so we could go down in the morning and get some beach time in before I had to work that night. And then after work we went to Spanky's Clam Shack where I had the Lobster Salad that was AMAZING!!!

Saturday Jumpin' J and his dad got to hang out all day while I played. They had a blast and I am trying to convince J's dad to write about it! Post a comment here if you want to hear about it so we can all work on him!!!

On Sunday I had a little more work to do then we went to the Harwich Cranberry Festival's parade. This was perfect for Jumpin' J because it wasn't too long and there were lots and lots of firetrucks to see. After the parade we popped over to the beach for just a little bit but didn't stay long because the storm on Saturday had washed so much seaweed up that you couldn't swim. It was a great weekend!!!

Tuesday, August 26

On Saturday Jumpin' J and I met up with Auntie Laura to go to the Big Bugs exhibition at Garden in the Woods. I didn't really know what to expect but since J loves bugs I thought it was a good idea. Plus it was Butterfly weekend there and J LOVES "buhdaf"!!

The bugs were all gigantic and made out of wood. I think they were actually so big that for the most part J didn't get that they were bugs. He did however recognize the butterfly and was absolutely in love.

They had kids learning centers set up in a couple of places. At one they were giving out butterfly temporary tattoos. J picked out the one he wanted and we put it on his leg. He looks at it all the time.

And at another they had butterflies at all the stages from itty bitty caterpillars to chrysalises about to open. Jumpin' J loved the "cataps" and wanted to touch all of them. He just missed grabbing this one, ooops.

After the butterfly statue we saw a dragonfly, praying mantis, three ants, a bee, and more. And we wrapped up at the Itsy Bitsy Spider which J also thought was great. He started doing the hand motions to the song and it was really cute.

All in all it was a wonderful afternoon! We had so much fun!!!

Blueberry Picking

After tasting some of the blueberries Auntie Donna picked for us the other day J's dad really wanted to go blueberry picking. Jumpin' J and his dad are both HUGE blueberry lovers so it sounded like a good idea. So yesterday we went in the afternoon to Nourse Farm in nearby Westborough to pick our hearts out.

J picked some blueberries all by himself. And he loves putting things into buckets so he was a big help that if you handed him a blueberry he would put it into the bucket. Unless it looked good and then he popped it into his mouth. I think that Jumpin' J and his dad ate more blueberries than they picked. We all had a great time and picked about 9 lbs. of blueberries. We would definitely do it again.

Then last night I made Grandma Susie's blueberry cake recipe and it came out excellent. I replaced the butter with Smart Balance Light and milk with rice milk so it would be something Jumpin' J could eat too. And it was a hit when I gave it to him today.

Climbing Mt. Washington

Since Friday was so filled with activity at Storyland we decided to do something a little more low key on Saturday. So we went with Auntie Laura and Uncle BK to Mt. Washington and drove up it. There were places where I had to close my eyes so it was a good thing J's dad was driving. When we got to the top we walked around a while before the cloud cover really started to get bad. Then we stopped part of the way back down to have lunch. All in all it was a very nice day and was just enough excitement to feel like we did something.

Story Land

Last weekend was the Annual MathWorks Outing! Jumpin' J's dad's company (where I used to work before J) takes all their employees plus families away to Mt. Washington for the weekend. It is really fun every year and it is pretty fun to reminisce about what wild parties used to happen back 7 years ago when we first went and everyone was still young and single.

Grandma Laurie's friend Laura won tickets to Storyland and she gave them to us because she wouldn't use them so Jumpin' J got his first taste of an amusement park and he LOVED it. I thought he might make it an hour or so but we were there for four hours! He had a blast and we will definitely do it again! Here are just a sampling of some of his favorite rides!
